Network of Experts for Sustainable Development in Central Asia

On May 21, 2015, in the Media City Debate Hall of the Palace of Independence, a panel session "Decarbonization and carbon trade - drivers of the new economy" was organized by the Scientific and Educational Center "Green Academy" in cooperation with the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Institute of Economic Research of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the support of UNDP and USAID.
The Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Shkolnik VS, Senior Partner of McKinsey & Company, Director of the Improved Growth-Improved Climate Program J. Oppenheim, Coordinator of the Deep Decarbonization Pathways Program IDDRI G. Vaisman G.Safonov, director of the Center for Environmental Economics and Natural Resources of the Higher School of Economics, and others, who discussed current trends in the decarbonization of the economy, as well as prospects for the development of international carbon trade and carbon financing.

Timashev, Director of the USAID Central Asia Economic Development Department M. Trublad, Chief Manager for Energy Efficiency and Climate Change, EBRD N. Jollands, Director, Green Growth Planning and Implementation in the North-East and Central Asia of the Institute of Global Green Growth J. Butz, Head Department of "Commonwealth with the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, the new independent states and the MENA region" of the Federal Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, Construction and Nuclear Safety (Germany) J. Kainhorst, Regional Director of FLERMONICA (Forest and Biodiversity Management, including Environmental Monitoring) S. Unchowski, Chief Expert of the Industrial Projects Department of the Polish National Environmental and Water Management Foundation M.Jamelkovsky, Project Manager of the Green Bridge Forum Riga A. Pumpurs.
Following the session, recommendations were developed for the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the development and promotion of measures for decarbonization and carbon trade, and the formation of a national agenda for a new climate agreement in Paris.
